As we at Planetary Solutions define “environmentally sound building”, there are several elements which together create a solution to our ecological nightmare — using locally available materials, appropriate siting and scaling of buildings, use of recycled and resource efficient materials, energy-efficient and water-efficient technologies, and use of products which are low-toxic in their manufacture, use, and ultimate disposal. The stigma is gone; it is simply sensible to buy and use products and materials with high recycled content.
