Straw Sticks & Bricks was formed in 2001. It is the result of a fruitless search for green materials in the Midwest during the construction of a straw bale home. Jen Carlson and Josh Shear moved into their straw bale house in 2000, and continued to research materials and building systems in order to build a business that could provide these hard-to-find materials to their community and region. The materials aren’t quite as hard to find these days, but it can still be a challenge, and Straw Sticks & Bricks is here to help! Lucky for you – you have the benefit of the internet to provide you with many options for green building materials! What sets Straw Sticks & Bricks apart is our hands-on experience over the last 8 years, our ability to offer installation services to certain areas, and our commitment to finding the highest quality materials for the best cost.
In the Spring of 2009, we handed over the reigns of our Kansas City showroom to Teri Bengtson and Lori McCann. We are excited to have these two talented and dedicated individuals digging into the Kansas City market!
